Ace of Wands

The Fool
The Fool

I had a pretty rough day yesterday and it reflected in my cards. I sat down in the early evening to layout a spread and pick out this weeks card and I got. Judgment(R) Ace of Wands Hierophant(R). It was a very appropriate spread. I was supposed to work on something yesterday, and my partner was supposed to have a folder ready so I could do my piece. Bottom line, the folder was not ready, paperwork I was told had been squared away a month ago had not been touched. Now this project has a little money attached to it, so I was invested in it financially as well as emotionally.

I got very angry. Angry enough that I just had to leave for a few hours, figuring I could come back and do the work later. Like I said the spread was on. I was being very Judgmental of my partner, (Judgment R) and I felt that I had been wronged according to my personal set of rules about right and wrong and how you treat your friends. (Hierophant R). The Ace though as interesting. I would not normally, in a reading, think in terms of an Ace of Wands as representing just a really intense moment of anger. Yet clearly reflecting on the spread and the day. That's exactly how the card should be read.

The Aces represent energies in their essential forms. I think of yesterdays spread as a reminder that those essential forms are not really good or evil. Light or Shadow, they are just what they are energetically. I was experiencing a moment of really pure Anger, and that reflected in the card. I was disappointed in my partner for not having my back, and myself for trusting my partner at his word that everything was in order. The spread I think reflects the energy of the Ace as seen through those to bits of glass. Yet the Energy itself, the driving force through the day, was the Ace. Like a Volcano that once blown, was not just going to quietly sink back down to rest. Rather, I had to wrestle with several waves of anger before the energy had spent itself. Today with a clear head, I made some phone calls, straightened some things out, and moved on.

The Ace of Wands is generally seen as a very positive card. Melanie and Robin have created wonderful images. The Fire Element in its rawest form, can be dangerous as well as a blessing. Raw Power, before it is wed to a purpose is amoral. It is simply power, and it can light up your veins like a torch. It can lift up your heart like true love. A blessing on a football field, not yesterday. Positive energies can leave us feeling full of life. Negative energies can leave us feeling profoundly drained when they are through with us. Yet in that present moment, you experience such focus, like you strive for in meditation. The energy coursing through you, demands every scrap of your attention. We all have these moments. Moments of Rage, Moments that reduce us to a torrent of tears. Moments of supreme coldness. I chose to reflect on this moment with you my friends, because I believe it is important to reflect on such moments. The moments when our shadow is starkest demand our attention, if we are to understand them and learn from them. Understanding the shadow is necessary to passing through it, and passing through it necessary to spritual maturity. Ah but thats another card.

I know that my audience is composed of very sensitive people. So allow me to reassure you, that my friendship and partnership has survived my bad moment. And we move on. Blessed Be All BB
